Monday, September 26, 2011 Categories: Beer, Biking, Racing Another week logged in Portland...Oregon. Not that anyone would think I'm talking about Maine. I bet Portland Maine is pretty cool though. I don't know how to begin explaining how much cool stuff there is to do in Portland. All related to bikes too! I'll sum up this past week pretty quick... Started the Professional Repair and Shop Operation course at UBI. Went to the Oregon Manifest Constructor's Design Challenge. Raced in my first cyclocross event (Battle at Barlow). Bought an insulated stainless-steel growler at Next Adventure and got a bottle-cage for it from Clever Cycles. Biked around downtown Portland, and went to some more breweries . . . Sunday, September 18, 2011 Categories: Beer I'm finding out that bikes and beer go together like salt & pepper, Cheech & Chong, and Beavis & Butthead. Since Portland is the biking mecca of the world, that only means one thing...they must have something great going on with beer. Right around the corner from where I'm staying at the Friendly Bike Guest House is one location of the Hopworks Urban Brewery...the bike bar! Yes...a bar dedicated to the bicyclist. Categories: Food, Travel After the 24-hour race in Bend, I was off to visit Portland for 3 weeks. I had signed up for bike mechanic courses at United Bicycle Institute from 9/12 to 9/30. Lodging accommodations were made at the Friendly Bike Guest House which was close to the UBI school (literally about 500 feet away).
